2021.1 Patch 7 Release Notes

Description

2021.1P7 is a ‘minor’ release, but the technical impact of the database improvements included are significant.  The main intentions of the release are to improve database performance (ZENQ-3714) especially in these areas:  1) Documents, Training, and Audits modules; and 2) All Dashboards and the old Administration pages.  As part of this effort we also permanently retired some little-used functions in the application. And as always there are some minor bug fixes, most notably we are resolving an issue with Change Control and Issues categories where single/multi-select custom fields were not immediately reflecting field dropdown options (IM-1045). 

Impact

The database performance improvements affect all users. All users should have improved loading times, but no change in functionality. The retired functionality will impact very few users, as we are retiring these features as they are rarely used and not a part of our future plans. Most of the bug fixes are low impact and should be evaluated according to your own internal SOPs. The highest impact bug fix is IM-1045, which affects any accounts using the Change Control and Issues modules. 

To assist all accounts to assess the impact of this minor release to their organization, we have made all changes available now at sandbox.zenqms.com to allow those who are interested to perform their own acceptance testing before it is deployed to app.zenqms.com. 

Documentation

This release is being managed through change control 301-30. An entire release record will be available for review after the release is completed, in the auditor share account.

We expect up to two hours of downtime that will occur in non-peak hours (EST). 

Version Details

ZenQMS comprises a microservice architecture that breaks up large functions into smaller services. This reduces risk in the development and release process. As such this flagship release version is actually composed of the releases of the individual services components. It is entirely possible for a component service to not change versions in a release cycle even if other components do. Here is the summary for this release.

ZenQMS Release 2021.1P7 contains the following “FixVersions”.  We use FixVersion as an internal versioning scheme for our modules/services and maintain them in Jira.

• ZENQ 22.7 - Flagship application and all other modules/components that are not Change Control, Issues, Tasks, Reports, or Settings

• MIG 3.2 - Import/Export Data service
• Reports 2.2 - Reports Module
• TM 3.1 - Tasks Module
