Create & Manage Custom Fields

Custom fields are one of the key features of ZenQMS. Within the application, each module can have up to 20 custom fields to capture your data using text boxes, multi-selects, drop-downs, etc... These fields appear in additional to the existing fields within the module. 

 

1. Log into the ZenQMS

2. Click on your name in the upper righthand corner and choose Administration from the dropdown 

3. Click Configuration on the lefthand side

CREATING A CUSTOM FIELD

1. Click 

2. Fill in an Abbreviation and Full Name for this new field

3. Select the module placement (e.g. documents, issues, etc...)

4. Select the type of custom field

5. Click the Save hyperlink

6. (optional) You have the ability to make the new custom field required (cannot move forward without filing out). This can be done by changing the value in the Required column to  

7. (Mutli-Select/Member Defined Dropdown) If you selected, Mutli-Select or Member Defined Dropdown, you will need to click the List hyperlink next to the new field in order to add values

8. (Mutli-Select/Member Defined Dropdown) Type in the values then click , repeat for each value

9. (Mutli-Select/Member Defined Dropdown) In the top right corner of the Update List pop-out, click 

10. (Mutli-Select/Member Defined Dropdown) In the Active column for your newly created custom field, you will need to change the value to  in order to start using this field

 

MANAGING CUSTOM FIELD SETTINGS

1. To edit the display order, update the custom field abbreviation, or update the full name, click the Edit hyperlink next to the custom field

 *You cannot change the Type of custom field after the field has been created

2. Make the necessary updates

3. Click the Save hyperlink

 

UPDATING CUSTOM FIELD VALUES (Mutli-Select/Member Defined Dropdown)

1. Click the List hyperlink next to the custom field

2. Either add fields by typing in the values clicking , or remove values by clicking  next to an existing value

3. Once you are finished, in the top right corner of the Update List pop-out, click 

 

DELETING A CUSTOM FIELD

1. Click the Delete hyperlink next to the custom field

 * Please note that deleting a custom field will permanently delete this custom field and all of its related data. This action cannot be reversed.

2. Click
